Lord Shiva is the supreme power that destroys the evils and obstruction from Mother Earth and brings out the ultimate existence. Shiva is worshipped in various forms on varied occasions, one of them being Panchanana or the five faced one, representing the five aspects of Shiva i.e. Isana, Tatpurusha, Aghora, Vamadeva and Sadyojata, that created the Universe. The auspicious ‘Om Namah Shivaye’; is referred as the Shiva Panchakshari mantra as it consists of five aksharas. Shiva is the symbol of perfection and when the name reflects his purity, and then the salutation referred for him will absolutely invoke the perfect Lord. On giving it a close view, ‘Namah’ is ‘not mine’ and ‘Shivaya’ means ‘belongs to Shiva’. It invokes us to leave our negative energies (ego, fear, anger, greed and so on) and realizing that everything belongs to Lord Shiva.
